Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hamburg. She has a background in international relation and peace & conflict studies and holds a PhD in Media Studies from the Ruhr-University Bochum. Viviane also worked in the field of humanitarian, development, and peace cooperation in the Middle East and West Africa. Her research focuses on intersectional perspectives of the media and conflict, media development, and digital security in journalism.
MIASA Project: Radios, conflits et construction de la paix au Sahel
Les crises récentes au Sahel ont bouleversé les conditions socio-politiques, économiques et culturelles des médias. Pourtant, c’est en temps de crise que les médias jouent un rôle sociétal primordial voire vital. Au Sahel, notamment au Burkina Faso, au Mali et au Niger, l’insécurité affecte les médias. C’est dans ce contexte que ce projet de recherche veut analyser les rôles, les pratiques professionnelles et les stratégies d’adaptation des radios communautaires au Burkina Faso, au Mali et au Niger. Le projet a pour but de comprendre comment ces radios rendent compte des conflits, quels rôles elles jouent dans la construction de la paix et la cohésion sociale, ainsi que d’examiner comment elles surmontent les nouveaux défis liés à ces crises. La recherche adopte une approche qualitative. Elle s’appuie sur des entretiens semi-directifs avec des journalistes et animateurs/-trices de radios communautaires.
