Workshop: Tracing Foundations
March 4 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Tracing Foundations is a participatory sculptural intervention in public space that explores how form emerges through accumulation, proximity, and shared action. Rather than presenting a fixed object, the work understands sculpture as a spatial condition shaped by use, negotiation, and presence. Drawing on additive structural principles derived from the spatial organization of Gurunsi village ground plans, the project translates architectural logics of growth and adjacency into an open, inhabitable form.
Amélie Esterházy is a Berlin-based visual artist working in sculpture, installation and research-driven, site-specific projects. Her practice investigates how structures — biological, architectural and social — produce meaning, memory and systems of belonging. She has exhibited internationally at institutions and galleries including the BMM (im Berliner Medizinhistorischen Museum), Georg Kolbe Museum (Berlin), Haus der Kunst (Munich), Rohkunstbau, CCA Andratx, Porthmeor Studios (St Ives), OPHEIM (Wrocław),Behncke Gallery (Munich) Allegra Ravizza Gallery (Lugano) and Jecza Gallery (Timișoara). Esterházy is also the founder and curator of OPEN Berlin, an artist-run project space.
