Dance Performance: Kor yε; Artist in Residence: Natasa Chanta-Martin
June 23 @ 10:30 am

Description:
During her MIASA residency, Natasa explored what happens to Ghanaian dance and music cultures when the musical instruments are not there. How do moving bodies suffice as repositories of knowledge and of embodied music? Is our body enough for the sustainability of our intangible cultural heritage? The answer is explored through the medium of body music where the body and the voice become the main sources by which both music and dance derive from. Music is much more embodied than we think and dance is much more audible than what we see. In collaboration with extremely talented students and staff from the Department of Dance Studies UG, Natasa blurs the lines between tradition and contextual exploration.
Process:
You are invited to promenade around the Department of Dance Studies and follow the body music sounds co-created with the dance students of UG. They will gradually lead you into the Dance Hall where we would love for you to actively participate in the second half of the performance. For whoever experiences difficulties participating standing, chairs will be provided. Thank you for being part of our collective work.
