Susan Dodsworth

Junior Fellow

September - December 2019

Dr. Susan Dodsworth is a Research Fellow at the International Development Department of the University of Birmingham. As a MIASA Fellow, Susan will be conducting research into the impact of women within African parliaments, comparing the experience of women MPs in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Malawi. More broadly, Susan’s research examines the role of political institutions (especially parliaments) in democratization and development, and the extent to which international actors affect these processes – both intentionally and unintentionally. Her most recent article (in Democratization) analyses the behaviour of international election observers in sub-Saharan Africa. More details about Susan’s research, and copies of her publications, are available on her personal website: https://susandodsworth.com
