Dr. Norbert Edomah is currently a Senior Lecturer in Energy Policy and Electricity Planning at the School of Science and Technology, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria. He has over 15 years of industrial and academic experience in the energy field. His principal research interests lies in the multidisciplinary field of energy policy, electricity planning and sustainability. He is keen about understanding how people respond to (and influence) changes in energy infrastructure systems. Dr. Edomah is currently a co-lead for a 3-year UKRI-GCRF funded project on energy democracy and the politics of energy transition in African countries. He is author of several academic peer-reviewed journal articles on various aspects of energy. His recent book on Electricity and Energy Transition in Nigeria, published by Routledge, is the first major research monograph that covers the dynamics of energy transition and energy systems change in Nigeria from a historical, policy, governance, consumer, industrial policy and future perspectives. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council UK and a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) UK.
Dr. Edomah’s MIASA research fellowship is focused on exploring the mediating role of policy levers in effecting energy transition and energy systems change within the Nigerian context. He will explore, through an intervention theory lens, how various policy and regulatory interventions in Nigeria’s energy sector has impacted on technology and energy resource shifts and their consequent impact on (un)intended energy transition.
