Michael Pregernig is Professor of Sustainability Governance at the University of Freiburg, Germany. He holds a PhD from the University of Natural Resources and Life Science, Vienna, Austria (BOKU), where he also got his Habilitation (PostDoc degree) in the field of ‘environmental and natural resource policy’. His research interests include the causes, manifestation and resolution of political conflicts around the distribution and use of natural resources, analysis and evaluation of instruments and processes of sustainability governance with a special focus on questions of effectiveness and legitimacy, as well as the role of science and expertise in environmental and natural resource policy. He has published on these topics in the fields of climate, water, food, forest and land-use policy.
